EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- A man accused of making veiled threats to workers at an adult care facility in Eugene is now facing a federal gun charge.
The Register-Guard newspaper reports that 45-year-old Scott Gorman was arraigned Friday in U.S. District Court on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Judge Thomas Coffin entered a "not guilty" plea on Gorman's behalf and scheduled a March 26 trial.
Authorities arrested Gorman Jan. 8, after he allegedly alarmed workers by claiming to have a gun in his car while complaining about the care his wife had been receiving.
A subsequent search of Gorman's bedroom turned up a loaded AR-15 semiautomatic rifle.
Gorman was barred from possessing guns upon being convicted in 2011 of illegal weapons use.
