PORTLAND -- A man was found shot to death outside a tavern in Northeast Portland Monday night, police said.
Investigators found Durell Gee Davis, 42, dead just before 8 p.m., near 92nd Place and Glisan Street, after responding to reports of shots fired.
"I went out to the middle of the street and he was basically lying right in front of our house," said neighbor Jerry Flores. "There was a group that gathered. We checked the pulse, they were on the phone with the EMT's and they were saying, 'put pressure on the wound' but it was pointless."
Another neighbor told KGW he heard "4 or 5 gunshots" before seeing the man dead in the street.
Police have not released a suspect description or a possible motive in the shooting.
Davis' body was found near the Top of the Hill Tavern. The bar manager told KGW that the incident had nothing to do with his business.
Traffic was shut down on Glisan from NE 91st Avenue to the I-205 overpass during the investigation.
Detectives are hoping someone will come forward with tips to help the investigation. Crime Stoppers is also offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case. Tips can be left online or via a text to: CRIMES (274637) and in the subject line put 823HELP, followed by your tip, or call 503-823-HELP (4357) to leave the information by phone.
Police said they do not believe the shooting was related to a nearby hit-and-run crash on Glisan Street, involving a pedestrian, that same evening.
