MT. HOOD – The Oregon Department of Transportation said travelers should expect busy roads around Mt. Hood ski areas this weekend.
The weekend of Feb. 2 saw traffic jams for up to two hours in some areas and parking lots filled up quickly.
Officials remind drivers that parking on highways is prohibited and those cars will be towed. Drivers should use extra caution on snowy roadways to avoid sliding off the road or getting in an accident.
Winter driving is hazardous at higher elevations. ODOT reminds drivers to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, look out for ice, and carry chains.
Drivers can check road condition and cameras at tripcheck.com.
