There were 4 million babies born in 2013, and we now know which baby names were the most popular for the year.

Social Security has released its annual list, just in time for Mother's Day.

Noah ousted Jacob for the most popular boys name, after a 14-year reign, and Sophia won the title for the girls, for the third year in a row.

The list -- released annually just before Mother's Day -- is the most complete of the popular baby name lists because parents supply the information when they apply for their child's Social Security number. New parents in 2013 applied for a Social Security number for 4 million babies.

Here are the top 10 boys and girls names for 2013:

Boys:

  6. Ethan
  7. Michael
  8. Alexander

Girls:

  1. Sophia
  2. Emma
