OREGON CITY, Ore. – Deputies arrested a suspect after his gun went off on a TriMet bus Friday morning near Oak Grove, authorities said.
Around 11:40 a.m., Troy Edwin Robanske, 42, of Gresham was on the Line 33 bus on Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard and Southeast Concord Road, said Lt. Robert Wurpes with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
Robanske reached into a small 14 inch by 5 inch case and a gun inside went off, sending a bullet into the floor of the bus, Wurpes said.
None of the estimated 20 people on board was injured.
The bus then continued to the next stop where Robanske got off. Deputes spotted him near Southeast Roethe Road and questioned him.
Robanske first said he had no gun and it was only a bullet that went off, but after a quick search, deputies found a .380 semi-automatic handgun in a nearby restroom, Wurpes said.
Deputies arrested Robanske and booked him into the Clackamas County Jail on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a firearm and reckless endangerment.
