PORTLAND – The Boise-Eliot neighborhood has experienced a revitalization in the past few years, as evidenced by the diverse stores that have popped up along North Williams Avenue.
Bike shops, boutique stores and eclectic restaurants line the popular street. Now, an environmentally focused grocery store is adding to the mix.
New Seasons Market, the Portland-based grocery store chain, celebrates the grand opening of a new location Wednesday at 3445 N Williams Ave.
The nearly $7 million investment will add much-needed jobs to the neighborhood.
“One-hundred fifteen staff members actually live in this zip code,” said Pat Brown, the Chief Operating Officer of New Seasons Market.
The new location will feature a beer growler station and more Northwest wines than any other location. There will also be more bike racks than car parking spaces.
Neighbors said they look forward to the grand opening.
“There aren’t very many grocery options,” said neighbor Leah Nobilette.
Mylee Douglas, who lives in the neighborhood, agrees.
“I don’t have a car, so I’m thrilled,” said Douglas.
Brown has high hopes for the store, which will be the 13th location for New Seasons Market.
“This is lucky 13,” Brown said.
