BOISE, Idaho -- The names of three people injured in a fatal midair collision over central Idaho last week have been released by the Valley County Sheriff's Department.
A 2-year-old boy from Salt Lake City was killed in Friday's crash at a backcountry airstrip. His name isn't being released.
His father, 48-year-old Ronald Lee Beitel of Salt Lake City, was transported by emergency helicopter to a Boise hospital. He's listed in serious condition.
Beitel's Beechcraft Baron collided above Johnson Creek Airport's grass runway with a Piper Tri-Pacer flown by Christopher Shea Jordan, a 39-year-old from Roseburg, Ore.
Daniel Wayne Sprague, a 54-year-old also from Roseburg, was a passenger in Jordan's plane.
Both suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Federal investigators spent the weekend at the airstrip five miles from the Idaho hamlet of Yellow Pine.
