TROUTDALE, Ore. --Four lost hikers were safely escorted down a trail late Thursday night to Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge.
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office says the Portland-area women in their 20s were unhurt and in good spirits.
Rescuers found the hikers at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, said Lt. Steve Alexander of the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.
The hikers called for help about 5 p.m., Alexander says the group had been hiking from Wahkeena Falls to Multnomah Falls earlier in the day.
As they descended to the Multnomah Falls trail they learned the bridge there was closed. They started back up the trail but got lost as darkness fell.
