PORTLAND – After seeking bidders to buy the unused, $58 million Wapato Jail, Multnomah County decided not to accept any of the proposals.

Seven groups came forward with ideas for the property, ranging from a bar and hotel to a community college.

But the county decided to go in a different direction. Officials said they’ll reach out to other government agencies and see what ideas they can come up with.
