GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore. -- The latest snow survey from Mt. Hood is in, and the report card is remarkable.
Hydrologists did core samples at the Timberline test site revealing the snowpack doubled in just one month.
Background: Snowpack growing fast on Mount Hood
"The last snow survey we did on January 31st, we were only 50 percent of normal, and there was about 5 feet of snow on the ground,” said Julie Koeberle with the Natural Resources Conservation Service. “Today we measured almost 10 feet of snow and we are ninety percent of normal. We doubled the amount of snow on the ground in a month."
Timberline's snowpack is at 90 percent of normal, and overall, the Mt. Hood snowpack is at 73 percent of normal.
