PORTLAND – Monday Jan. 14 is Dress Up Your Pet Day – that’s right — Dress Up Your Pet Day.
Whether you want to admit it or not, chances are at one time or another, you’ve decked out your furry friend in some absurd regalia.
Maybe it was one of those sweaters that pet stores devote entire aisles to. Perhaps it was a funny hat you thought would look nice on your cat for her Facebook profile picture.
It also could have been a piece of bread with your cat's face shoved through it. Check out cat breading here.
Either way, on Monday you have an excuse to put Rex, Mr. Mittens, or even Ricky the Rat in his or her most decadent dress.
When you dress up your pet, however, it’s important to keep a few things in mind:
Make sure your pet is safe. Be sure its ears and eyes are free, and don’t dress them in unseasonable outfits and take them outside.
Don’t waste your money. You don’t need to spend a fortune to dress up your pet. There are lots of wallet-friendly options in big box stores.
Don’t torture your pet. If your furry family member just won’t have it, you can take a picture and edit it online. On Cat Snaps you can upload your pet’s photo, add in your favorite clothes and accessories virtually, and share a picture of your newly decked-out pet on your Facebook page.
