SALEM -- A 32-year-old Federal Way man who was reported missing Monday was found safe Tuesday near Salem, police said.

Oregon State Police troopers first found Adam Standridge's 2012 Dodge Avenger abandoned and locked at the I-5 Santiam rest area but there was no sign of him. Some time later, Standridge was reportedly at a stranger's door requesting help.

Police took him to a shelter in the City of Salem and called his family. Standridge was treated at a hospital where paramedics checked him out and determined he was uninjured.

Standridge was reported missing Monday after leaving the day before from his Federal Way home.

Several troopers from Albany and Salem checked the rest area and bank of the Santiam River but found no sign of Standridge. OSP said his car was first noted at the rest area on March 3 at about 8 a.m. by a rest area employee.
