MEDFORD, Ore. -- An Oregon man who stabbed his wife with a butcher knife on Christmas Day has been sentenced to 7 1/2 years in prison.
The Mail Tribune reports 45-year-old Antoine Coleman of Medford told the court Friday he was in a methamphetamine-induced craze when the attack occurred.
Prosecutor Laura Cromwell said Coleman became "extremely paranoid" and picked up a steak knife after the couple injected the drug.
When the steak knife broke, Coleman grabbed a butcher knife and stabbed his wife in the chest, back and arm.
Cromwell says the wife was able to get to a neighbor's house and call 9-1-1 after her husband slipped on blood while chasing her.
Prosecutors dropped assault charges in exchange for Coleman's agreement to plead guilty to attempted murder.
