ALBANY, Ore. – Robbers hit a medical marijuana grow house in Albany early Wednesday morning, binding two victims with zip ties then making off with pot, cash and guns.
As many as five robbers entered the house in the 39000 block of Santiam Bluffs Road in Albany around 3 a.m., according to Sheriff Bruce Riley of Linn County police.
Robert Bender, 66, and Frederick McKenney, 27, were at the home at the time of the robbery. They said the suspects were carrying guns and wearing ski masks and bulletproof vests.
The masked men bound Bender and McKenney with zip ties before stealing several guns, a large amount of marijuana and an undisclosed amount of cash, according to Riley.
“Deputies do not believe this was a random robbery,” Riley said. “They believe the residence was targeted because it is a grow site for numerous medical marijuana patients.”
Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspects was asked to call Detective Mike Harmon at 541-967-3950.
