MCMINNVILLE, Ore. -- The name Main Street may sound generic, like any you might find in towns and cities across the country. But what if your city's main street was named the best in the U.S.?
Parade Magazine is hosting a tournament for America's Best Main Street and McMinnville is one of just two finalists.
There were four rounds of voting and McMinnville’s main street already beat out other main streets in towns like Flagstaff, Arizona to Georgetown, Texas.
Now McMinnville is going head-to-head for the prize with Collierville, Tennessee.
KGW asked McMinnville residents why their Main Street should be recognized as the nation’s best. You can see what they said in the video above.
The town of 32,545 was recognized by Parade as "picturesque" with a main drag that is "the living room of McMinnville.”
"The tree-lined street has comfort, charm, eclectic boutiques, award-winning restaurants, wine tasting stores, upstairs apartments, artwork, and a successful farmers’ market," Parade's website boasted. "Annual festivals such as the Turkey Rama and Alien Daze offer family fun."
It's too late to cast a vote for McMinnville because the polling closed at 9 p.m., Wednesday. But you can keep your fingers crossed and await the big announcement of the winner, which will appear on the cover of Parade Magazine's August 17 issue.
