PORTLAND -- The man who was struck and killed late Tuesday night as he walked along Interstate 5 by the Rose Quarter was identified Friday as 49-year-old Richard Carl Rode, police said.
Rode, who was listed as homeless, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the southbound vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police. No citations were issued in the case and the investigation was complete, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.
The southbound lanes were closed for several hours during the initial investigation.
