GRESHAM -- The man who was fatally shot Sunday evening in a Gresham apartment complex parking lot has been identified as Andreas Prince Jones, 21.

Officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting just before 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Arriving officers found Jones at 19100 SE Burnside Street. He was treated by medics but died at the scene.

Witnesses told police a possible suspect fled on foot through the apartment complex.

The suspect was described as a black man in his early 20s with short dreadlocked hair, around six feet tall and 160 pounds.

Neighbors told KGW that the victim was about 19 or 20. They said he was turning his life around and had just enrolled in culinary school. A former gang member, he was in the process of removing tattoos.

Police said the area around the complex has been associated with gang activity but a motive for the shooting has not been determined.

Police were still searching for the possible suspect in the shooting on Monday. Anyone with information about the shooting should call Gresham Police at 503-618-2719.
