MILWAUKIE, Ore. -- A man, who died after being shot by Milwaukie police on Wednesday, has been identified.

At around 8 a.m. a Milwaukie Police officer pulled over Travis Blake Utley, 38, of Lebanon in a traffic stop at Southeast 52nd Avenue and Harney Drive.

The officer discovered Utley had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He tried to take Utley into custody, but the suspect drove away, according to Officer Ulli Neitch of Milwaukie police.

Officers followed Utley and forced him to stop his car, Neitch said, but then the suspect drove toward officers and rammed a police car.

"Two Milwaukie police officers fired their weapons resulting in Utley sustaining gunshot wounds," Neitch said.

Officers performed CPR on scene and transported Utley to Oregon Health and Science University, where he was pronounced dead.

The two officers involved were placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure for the Milwaukie Police Department.
