VANCOUVER -- A man found dead at the site of an explosion in Vancouver last week had killed himself, Clark County officials said Monday.
Police were called at 3:30 a.m. on May 28 to the report of an explosion in the 9100 Block of Northeast 54th Street, said Sgt. Kathy McNicholas of the Vancouver Police Department.
Responding officers found a man dead inside a vehicle at the scene, McNicholas said.
The man was identified as 23-year-old Bogdan Sergeyevich Odynets of Vancouver, according to a statement released Monday by the Clark County Medical Examiner's Office. His cause of death was blunt head trauma and manner of death was suicide, the statement read.
A Vancouver major crimes team was called in to investigate the scene, with assistance from the FBI and the ATF. Crews took extra precautions to clear the scene, due to "potentially dangerous chemical components involved," McNicholas said.
