GRESHAM, Ore. -- A Gresham man was rescued from a burning home Sunday night and rushed to a local hospital.

The fire started near the garage in the home along Southwest Mawcrest Drive, just east of Interstate 205.

Neighbors called for help when they said a boat blew up.

“Depending on the severity of his injuries, we were thinking about flying him [in LifeFlight helicopter] but the reports I got back from paramedics treating him said they could go by ground," said Jason McGowan with the Gresham Fire Department.

The fire left a family of seven homeless.
