PORTLAND – TriMet MAX trains returned to regular service Monday morning after being shut down due to icy weather Saturday but many bus routes were still canceled while freezing rain coated the snowy Metro area.

Bus lines 18, 38, 43,51, 53, 55, 61 and 63 were canceled Monday morning and around a dozen were on snow routes or detours, according to TriMet Spokeswoman Roberta Altstadt.

"Riders should expect delays as chained buses run slower," Altstadt said.

MAX trains were running on schedule Monday but Altstadt said many platforms were covered in snow and ice.

"Riders should dress warmly and check Trimet alerts before they head out," she said. Altstadt also cautioned riders against running for trains and buses on icy streets.
