CALGARY, Alberta -- A $40,000,000 lottery winner has decided to donate all of his winnings to charity, a Calgary radio station reported.
Tom Crist won Canada's Lotto-Max jackpot and decided to put the money into a family foundation that will help charities in need, according to Radio 660 News.
“Cancer is a big one because my wife passed away from cancer, two years ago in February,” Crist told the station Monday.
He said he recently retired and had made enough in his career to support himself and his kids, so there was never any doubt that the money would go to charity.
He won the jackpot in May and did not come forward until this week, after he'd figured out what to do with the money.
