LONGVIEW, Wash -- A Longview, WA man is facing a 2nd degree murder charge after a man's body was discovered in the back of a van in the 300 block of Oregon Way in Longview.
The victim was identified Tuesday as Kevin T Watts, 50, of Longview.
Detectives said Watts had multiple injuries that appeared to have been caused by a sharp weapon. They were unsure of a motive in the killing.
Somebody called police around 10 p.m. Sunday night and said a man had been killed and was lying in the back of a van in the Highlands area.
Officers responded to the 300 block of Oregon Way and found two men pushing a vehicle into an alley. Further investigation revealed a body in the back of nearby van.
"That's pretty weird," said neighbor Josh Williams. "That doesn't happen that often."
"It's scary," added neighbor Paula Laur.
"In this area there's not much that goes on," added Williams. "When you see something like that it tends to get everyone's attention."
A man told officers he was asked to help dispose of a body and clean up a mess. The man then identified 28-year-old David A. Holmes as the suspect. Evidence at the scene led to Holmes' arrest.
"It was just a lot of people, cops everywhere, place was roped off," said Laur.
Holmes is facing a second degree murder charge. The identity of the victim will be released once family is notified.
