BEND, Ore. (AP) -- An inmate who escaped from the Klamath County Jail grounds Thursday was arrested Monday evening at a traffic stop in Bend.
Sheriff Tim Evinger says 25-year-old Robert Kenneth Banes was driving a van that was pulled over by Bend police for running a stop sign.
KTVZ reports Banes tried to drive off but was stopped by officers who used a Taser to take him into custody. Banes had been serving time on a parole violation for car theft and burglaries.
He escaped from a jail work detail while taking out garbage. He was able to slip through a hole in the fence because he's so slender.
His mother and a 21-year-old woman have been accused of aiding the escape by supplying a change of clothing.
