KEIZER, Ore -- A teacher's aide at a Keizer middle school was jailed on sex abuse charges Wednesday, authorities said.
Jose Moreno is a special education instructor at Whiteaker Middle School. Detectives said he fondled three boys at his home and at the school.
According to a probable cause document, Moreno admitted to fondling two developmentally delayed children in restrooms near their classrooms. The report shows Moreno also admitted to fondling another child at his Salem home.
"These are very serious situations, whenever there is any allegation against someone who works with students all the time," said district spokesperson Jay Remy. "The district is first of all cooperating with police."
Moreno is facing seven counts of sex abuse. He has been at Whiteaker since the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year. He worked at Clear Lake Elementary School before that.
Authorities said there's no evidence of additional victims. The investigation began after Keizer Police received information from child welfare investigators with the Oregon Department of Human Services.
Moreno was arraigned Thursday and held on $300,000 bail. His next court date was scheduled for October 24.
