HILLSBORO – In a few months Kaiser Permanente’s new west-side medical center in Hillsboro will start seeing patients. Before it opens in August, they need a lot of people to help staff it.
The west-side medical center is a state-of-the-art facility loaded with every new high-tech medical care gizmo. It's located at Northwest 194th Street and Northwest Evergreen Parkway in Hillsboro.
The campus-like setting has 12 operating rooms, 126 beds, 90 exam rooms, and the list goes on. To make it all work, it will take about 1,000 people to staff the facility.
Hillsboro is a small city, so the types of positions run the gamut. Many people have already been hired, but they still have openings. The process starts online, and if your skills match the needs, they will call for an in-person interview.
On Friday, many people were there for orientation and others for the job interview.
“The trick is, as long as you answer the qualification questions to the bet of your knowledge, it moves through the system to an actual recruiters desk,” said Christina Holand, a lead recruiter.
“We've been planning this hospital for quite awhile, both to accommodate growth that we have within KP in our membership, but so we can have a presence on the west side and better serve the community this way,” said Janet O’Hollaren with Kaiser Permanente.
The hospital hopes to have the majority of new hires on board by mid-April. There will be a lot of training before the grand-opening in August.
