WOODLAND -- Interstate 5 northbound was closed for several hours about five miles north of Woodland after a man was struck and killed by a truck just after 2 a.m.
The driver of the semi-truck told the Washington State Patrol that he saw a car on the side of the freeway and moved to the center lane, when he realized he struck something.
A WSP official said the 41-year-old man who died had a disabled car. It was not known why he was in the center lane when struck. The truck driver was taken to a hospital for observation.
Police did not release the name of the dead man but said he is not from Oregon or Washington.
Traffic lanes were reopened just before 7 a.m.
