PORTLAND -- Drivers will get a break from the Interstate 5 closure this weekend, as construction work is postponed for the 17th Annual Bridge Pedal.
The one-mile stretch of I-5 northbound that runs from the Marquam Bridge to the Fremont Bridge will be open this weekend, according to Don Hamilton of the Oregon Dept. of Transportation.
But the top decks of the Fremont and Marquam bridges will be closed Sunday morning as thousands of cyclists take part in the Bridge Pedal.

The southbound lanes were closed for two weekends in July. After some traffic control changes following the first closure, Hamilton said the second closure went much more smoothly.
The northbound lanes will be closed again August 17-20 and August 24-27.
