PORTLAND -- Interstate 5 southbound will close from 8:30 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday as crews repair a barrier damaged in a semi truck crash Tuesday morning.
Transportation department crews will close the freeway just south of the Interstate 405 exit. Traffic will follow a detour over the Fremont Bridge and back to I-5 southbound.
"The closure is needed to replace a damaged impact barrier at the end of the ramp and to continue cleaning up the diesel fuel that leaked from a truck in a Tuesday morning crash," said Oregon Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kimberly Dinwiddie.
The driver in the Tuesday morning crash suffered minor injuries. The truck was carrying equipment for the Drake performance at the Moda Center.
A spokeperson for the venue said all of the equipment was apparently in tact and the show would go on as planned.
The crash closed I-5 south for several hours, snarling the morning commute.
