BEAVERTON, Ore. – Officers temporarily shut down Highway 26 westbound near Cornell Road in Beaverton while they worked to pin down a suspected truck thief, police said.

Beaverton police were using a K-9 unit to track the suspect who reportedly stole the truck in Hillsboro earlier in the day before crashing into another car and taking off on foot near Southwest Cornell Road.

Just after 3 p.m. police reported the suspect, Jose Duran-Mayan, had been taken into custody and lanes were reopened.

The suspect was described as man in his 40s with a blue jacket and a hat.
