PORTLAND -- Police rousted a handful of campers Tuesday morning from the sidewalks surrounding Terry Schrunk Plaza as crews began an annual cleanup of the park.

Police tape surrounded the plaza after it was cleared without incident. Owned by the federal government, it will be fenced and closed for a week.

Notice had been put out days earlier about the cleanup and most of the homeless who had been staying at the plaza had already moved elsewhere, some to nearby Chapman or Lownsdale parks.
