PORTLAND – Three homeless people were hurt in a violent attack as they set up camp at a park in Southeast Portland.

Adin Templin, 41, told police that someone came from behind and hit him in the head as he set up his sleeping bag under a covered structure in Woodstock Park, on SE 47th Avenue, around 2 a.m., Thursday.

Investigators also found another man and a woman who were assaulted near the intersection of SE 48th Avenue and Woodstock Boulevard. All three suffered injuries and Templin was bleeding, according to detective Paul Dolbey with the Portland Police Bureau.

Investigators tracked down two suspects who they believe were behind the attacks. Elijah Lawson, 20, and a 13-year-old boy were arrested on assault charges. (See police mug shot at right.)

Police have not commented on a possible motive.

Anyone with information that may help investigators was asked to call detective Dolbey at (503) 823-0451 or send him an email. Paul.Dolbey@PortlandOregon.gov.
