PORTLAND, Ore. -- Say goodbye to Oregon's record-setting dry spring.

KGW Chief Meteorologist Matt Zaffino said rain would push into the Willamette Valley around mid-morning Thursday and continue on and off throughout the day, with a series of wet systems to follow through the weekend.

The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement for areas along the north and central Oregon coast and the Willamette Valley, warning that several wet systems will bring abundant rain, much cooler temperatures, and gusty winds to southwest Washington and northwest Oregon through this weekend.

"Rainfall totals will approach a couple of inches in the Cascades but should be under a half-inch in the valleys," said Zaffino. "Friday also looks wet, with the rain turning to showers Saturday. After more rain Saturday night and Sunday, the rain tapers off to showers Sunday evening."
