BATTLE GROUND, Wash. -- A 6-year-old boy died and three people were hospitalized after a head-on car crash on Interstate 5 near Battle Ground, Wash. Friday afternoon.

Around 2 p.m., an 84-year-old man driving south in the northbound lanes of I-5 hit another car containing 32-year-old Ericka Gorremans, her 10-year-old son, and his 6-year-old cousin. All four people were taken to the hospital where the 6-year-old died,  according to the Washington State Patrol.

The 84-year-old man, later identified as Gage Musgrave, was trapped inside his vehicle for 30 minutes.

The right and center lanes were cleared by 3 p.m., according to officers.
