PORTLAND --- A man fleeing from police was apprehended by an armed citizen Sunday, said Portland Police Sgt. Pete Simpson.
Justin Allen Gigoux, 30, was the passenger in a car that allegedly failed to pull over for a traffic stop at Southeast 92nd Avenue and Flavel Street shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, police said.
Police chased the vehicle, a white Ford Probe, for approximately five minutes until it eventually pulled over. Gigoux and the driver, 42-year-old Jeffrey Dale McCarter, then fled on foot, Simpson said.
Police initially thought one of the suspects was armed and called in an air support unit to help with the search.
Carter was found hiding in a pond near the 16600 block of Southeast Baxter Road.
Police said they later found Gigoux being held at gunpoint by a citizen near Southeast 162nd Avenue and Clatsop Street. The resident’s neighbor had called 911 to alert police.
