COLUMBIA CITY – Highway 30 was closed for 45 minutes near Columbia City after a pickup crashed into a power pole Saturday.
Just before 1:30 p.m., 18-year-old Christopher Downing veered off the highway in his 2000 Nissan near milepost 34. He then struck a power pole and rolled his truck before coming to rest upright on the shoulder, said Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police.
Downing was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash. The Highway was reopened around 2 p.m.
