LONG BEACH, Wash. -- The body of a young girl who disappeared under water while playing with her brother in the surf off the Washington Coast earlier this week has been found.

Long Beach Police Chief Flint Wright said the 11-year-old girl's body washed ashore Saturday morning. He identified her as Lindsey Mustread, from the Seattle area.

The girl and her 10-year-old brother had been wading in the surf on the Long Beach Peninsula on Thursday when they apparently got caught in a rip tide.

Her brother, Kenneth, was rescued that afternoon after treading water for about a half hour. The stunned boy said he didn't know what happened to his sister.

Rescuers searched by boat, jet ski and in a Coast Guard helicopter for seven hours for the girl Thursday afternoon.

Wright has said the family is from Chimacum on Washington's Olympic Peninsula.
