PORTLAND -- A gas line break near the intersection of Southwest 4th Avenue and Lincoln Street in downtown Portland has been capped and surrounding streets reopened.
The two-inch gas line break early Wednesday morning initially forced the closure of adjacent streets and the 4th Avenue off-ramp from I-405.
A construction company had reportedly damaged a natural gas line near the sidewalk while digging.
Crews with NW Natural managed to cap the leak just before 10:30 a.m.
Police had closed off surrounding streets as a safety precaution but they were all reopened before 11 a.m.
