KELSO, Wash. -- A wanted felon was arrested Tuesday night after he was heard yelling for help in the woods near Kelso, police said.

Police were called at about 11 p.m. to Hazel Dell Road, four miles north of Kelso, when a resident reported hearing a man screaming nearby, said Charlie Rosenzweig of the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office.

Arriving deputies found a man in the dense woods, claiming he was too cold and tired to walk, Rosenzweig said. The man gave police a fake name, but he matched the description of 37-year-old Charles Ray Reece, who was wanted in Lewis County for identity theft and forgery.

Deputies were able to confirm his identity through his tattoos. Reece was treated for minor injuries and arrested for outstanding warrants.
