PORTLAND – Fireworks sparked a house fire in Southeast Portland as people celebrated the new year just after midnight, police said.
The fire broke out at 12:29 a.m., at 3564 SE Insley Street but no one was injured, according to a spokesperson with Portland Fire & Rescue.
Firefighters said there was light smoke coming from the back of the property when they arrived. Crews were able to get the fire under control within about 15 minutes.
Investigators said fireworks sparked the fire on the outside wall of a detached garage.
There is no damage estimate at this time.
