LONGVIEW, Wash. – Firefighters attacked a blaze burning up a Longview home early Saturday morning.
What started as a routine approach to the fire quickly turned dangerous when a downed power line got tangled up in the firefighters’ hose just before 6 a.m., said Troy Buzalsky with Longview Police & Fire.
Firefighters secured the power line, ran into the home, made sure it was empty, and had the flames under control within 15 minutes.
The man living in the home told investigators popping sounds coming from the back of the house woke him up, and he thought the fire started outside, Buzalsky said.
No one was injured but the man was displaced from his home. Investigators were working to determine the cause of the fire.
Longview Fire wanted to remind everyone to check their smoke alarms to make sure they work and replace them if they are over 10 years old.
