CANNON BEACH -- Investigators think an electric golf cart may have sparked the fire the caused $500,000 in damage to a home in Cannon Beach last Thursday.
The golf cart was parked in the garage, next to three vehicles that were also destroyed in the fire. Investigators think the fire originated in the garage.
The home, located on Forestlawn Road, was valued at $1.1 million.
Crews who responded to the 2:08 a.m. alarm arrived to find the house engulfed by flames.
A second alarm was called, in part because Cannon Beach Fire and Rescue crews were also working a cliffside rescue on Tillamook Head.
An alarm system alerted the family to the flames and no one was injured.
