CLATSKANIE, Ore. – A driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 30 just west of Clatskanie, Oregon State Police said Friday.
The crash was first reported just after noon and all lanes of the highway were closed down afterward. Traffic was being flagged through one lane just before 2 p.m.
The 39-year-old David Glatfelter of Portland lost control of his pickup while passing a commercial vehicle eastbound on the highway, police said.
The pickup crossed oncoming lanes, hit a ditch, and rolled onto its top before coming to a rest in a small waterway, police said.
Several people stopped and helped Glatfelter out of the truck. After getting out of the truck, Glatfelter collapsed and was later pronounced dead by paramedics.
Roads were snowy and icy, and police said speed may have been a factor in the crash.
