CAMAS, Wash. -- A family of three was without a home in Thursday after a fire destroyed their single-family house in Camas.
The occupant of a house on the 200 block of Northwest 22nd Avenue came home Thursday to find the family room couch on fire, firefighters said.
Four engines and an ambulance arrived on the scene and quickly put out the blaze, said Nick Swinhart of the Camas-Washougal Fire Department. The back half of the house was destroyed by smoke and fire, said Swinhart.
No one was injured, but Swinhart did not expect the structure to be habitable any time in the near future.
The three-member family intended to stay with other family, Swinhart said. The occupants were not identified by fire department officials. The cause of the blaze was not known but Swinhart said it was not caused by a Christmas tree.
