PORTLAND -- Several downed utility lines fell across Interstate 84 at Northeast 125th Avenue Tuesday morning, temporarily blocking all lanes in both directions, officials said.
"A boom on a truck in the eastbound lanes pulled utility lines down," said Oregon Department of transportation spokesman Don Hamilton at about 10:15 a.m. "The lines cross all eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway."
Utility companies responded to the scene to evaluate the damage. Two eastbound lanes were opened at about 10:45 and the remaining lanes reopened shortly afterward.
But eastbound traffic was still extremely slow all the way back to Interstate 5 and westbound traffic was backed up to Fairview Parkway until almost 11:30 a.m.
