EUGENE – Sunday morning's Eugene Marathon was the first big race in Oregon since the Boston bombings.
Race organizers said there was an increased security presence at the race, which got underway at 7 a.m. The Oregon National Guard was called in to help with security and there were also random backpack searches.
There were various tributes to Boston lining the streets of Eugene. A Boston Strong shirt at the starting line and one runner even carried an American flag along the route.
