SALEM – A man was killed in a single-vehicle car crash along Highway 223 near Dallas early Saturday, police said.

Mitchell Johnson, 24, of Dallas was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected during the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene, said Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police.

Byron Moore, 24, of Dallas was driving a 1999 Chevrolet pickup eastbound on Highway 223 near Southeast Fir Villa Road around 1 a.m. when it traveled onto the shoulder and lost control, Hastings said.

The vehicle went into a ditch and became airborne before coming to rest in the front yard of a residence, Hastings said.

Moore was taken to a Salem hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
