ARLINGTON, Ore. -- Authorities say an inmate who escaped from a work crew in Eastern Oregon was captured four hours later along Interstate 84.
Sheriff Gary Bettencourt of Gilliam County said Thursday that 21-year-old Shea Michael Goddard escaped about 3 p.m. the day before near Arlington.
Officers from several agencies joined a search that included aircraft, four-wheelers, a tracking dog and horses.
A State Police trooper saw Goddard walking along the interstate about 7 p.m. and took him peaceably into custody.
Bettencourt said in a statement that Goddard was in a multicounty jail serving a sentence for burglary and probation violation. He was booked on an escape charge.
