PORTLAND -- University of Oregon officials confirmed Tuesday that quarterback Bryan Bennett will be transferring to another school. There was no word on where he planned to transfer.
In 2011 Bennett came off the bench for an injured Darron Thomas and guided Oregon to a come-from-behind victory against Arizona State. He brought the Ducks another win the next week, when in his first college start Oregon beat Colorado 45-2.
Last season he played in 10 games as a reserve, completing 20 of 37 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns, according to spokesman Dave Williford. Bennett also ran for three scores in UO's 70-14 win over Colorado.
“Bryan is an outstanding young man who certainly contributed to our success on and off the field in the three years he was a part of our program,” Head Coach Mark Helfrich said. “He would have played a role in our fortunes in the coming years but in the end, I think it was his desire to play quarterback that led to him to seek an opportunity for more playing time elsewhere. We wish him nothing but success in the future and he will be missed.”
He will still have two years of eligibility.
