PORTLAND -- Fire crews rescued a woman from the bottom of an 80-foot embankment on Southwest Terwilliger Boulevard Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called just after 1 p.m. to the report of a vehicle going off of the road near Chart House restaurant, at 5700 SW Terwilliger Blvd.

However, fire crews did not find a crash scene.  They instead found a woman who had either fallen or jumped into a ravine.

The woman's car was found in a nearby pull-out parking area, said Lt. Rich Chatman of Portland Fire & Rescue. He said the woman was walking on a trail when she either fell or jumped.

The PF&R Technical Rescue Team built a rope system to pull the woman to safety. She was conscious and alert with minor injuries, Chatman said.
